Your account tracks every phone number detected on your landing pages, called destinations. This guide covers deciding whether to swap each one, naming them, and customizing promo-number behavior.
Your Invoca Tag can automatically detect phone numbers on your landing pages and swap them out with trackable Invoca promo numbers. Your account also keeps track of every phone number on your landing pages — whether you choose to swap them or not. These phone numbers are called destinations. Log in to your Invoca account and click Destinations in the sidebar menu to manage them. Whether you have one call center or thousands of distributed franchises, this menu helps you keep track of your call tracking needs, including:
  • Whether to swap each destination with Invoca promo numbers
  • How many concurrent visitors Invoca should be able to track for each destination
  • Names and settings for destinations automatically detected by your Invoca Tag

Discovering your destinations from your landing pages

By default, your Invoca Tag detects any phone numbers on each landing page it’s deployed on and adds them to your Destinations menu. Make sure the “Replace any detected numbers” checkbox stays checked in your Invoca Tag settings so this keeps working smoothly as you make edits. You can also tell your Tag not to detect destinations from certain URLs. In your Invoca Tag settings, in the Website Phone Numbers section, enter the URL of each page where you don’t want new destinations discovered, separated by line breaks. By default, newly detected destination phone numbers aren’t swapped or tracked right away — they’re set to inactive (“Discovered”) pending your review. To track newly detected destinations automatically instead, go to your Destinations menu, select Settings, and in the Creating New Destinations tile, choose “Yes” to track all discovered numbers automatically.

Managing settings for your destinations

Every destination your Tag detects is added to your Destinations list, where you can manage settings for each one.

Choosing whether to swap your destinations

In the Destinations menu, you’ll find your destinations sorted into statuses:
  • Active (Dynamic): Swapped with dynamic Invoca promo numbers, providing unique marketing attribution for each caller.
  • Active (Static): Coming soon — in the meantime, use the Promo Numbers menu to manage static promo numbers.
  • Discovered: Not swapped, and calls to these numbers receive no call tracking data. These are newly detected destinations awaiting your review (only shown if “Creating New Destinations” is set to “No, report them as discovered”).
  • Ignored: Also not swapped, with no call tracking data — distinct from Discovered so you can separate destinations you’ve chosen not to track from ones you haven’t reviewed yet.

Tracking and ignoring numbers

You can change a destination’s status at any time:
  • Click the green plus sign to move a Discovered or Ignored destination to Active.
  • Click the gray archive button to move a Discovered destination to Ignored.
  • To move an Active destination to Ignored, click its settings menu and select Ignored.
You can track or ignore up to 50 numbers at a time — use the search bar to narrow results by domain, area code, or landing page. Select the destinations you want, then click Promote to start tracking immediately, or Ignore if the numbers shouldn’t be replaced (for example, fax numbers or a profile page’s customer phone number). Ignoring an Active number deletes any tracking numbers associated with it and moves it to Ignored. You can resume tracking later, though your account is still billed for usage in the meantime.

Naming your destinations

  1. Find the destination in your Active (Dynamic) or Active (Static) list.
  2. Click its menu button (three vertical dots), then select Edit.
  3. Enter a name in the Destination Name field — for example, “Knoxville, TN Sales Line.” Click Save.

Customizing how destinations swap with promo numbers

For Active (Dynamic) destinations, you can fine-tune the type and quantity of promo numbers associated with each one. Access these settings as an account-wide default (Destinations menu → Settings) or per destination (its settings menu → Edit → Show Advanced Options).
  • Number type: Choose local numbers to match your destination’s area code and prefix, optionally with a maximum distance — if no local number is available within that radius, Invoca defaults to a toll-free number instead. See Local RingPools for more.
  • Number of dynamic numbers allocated: Determines how many concurrent visitors can be tracked with unique attribution. More numbers improve tracking but affect billing — we recommend starting low and adjusting upward as needed, or letting your account manage this automatically.
  • Overflow behavior: If traffic exceeds available numbers, “Reserve one phone number for additional visitors” shows a backup number that still gathers basic call metrics (recommended for most organizations). “Do not replace the destination number” leaves the destination unswapped once numbers run out — not recommended, since you won’t be able to track how many calls go unswapped.
  • Attribution window (default settings only): the minimum time before the same promo number is served to another visitor. We recommend the default of 5 minutes unless your data suggests otherwise.

Exporting a list of your destinations

Log in to your account, click Campaigns, select the campaign associated with the destinations you want, then click Export and Download. The exported list includes all Active, Ignored, and Discovered destinations, along with each one’s name, phone number, status, source URL, and associated RingPool.

FAQ

Can I use Destinations to detect numbers across multiple campaigns? No. Destinations can only detect numbers within a single campaign. Can I manage my vanity numbers in the Destinations menu? Yes. Vanity numbers tracked by your Tag are converted into digits (for example, “800-ABC-DEFG” becomes “800-222-3334”) and reported in your Discovered tab. Why aren’t my numbers being discovered? Your Invoca Tag must be running when a number is discovered. If you use required parameters to run your tag, make sure they’re present on the page before navigating to the number. Also confirm the number isn’t in your tag’s Ignored list. Why aren’t my destination numbers being swapped with promo numbers? Open your browser’s console and run Invoca.PNAPI.display(). If you see a response like:
your number has been discovered but isn’t currently promoted — return to “Managing settings for your destinations” above and set it to Active. If you see a response like:
the destination is promoted and swapping correctly — see Validating and Troubleshooting Invoca Tags for further help. Will I be charged for “Ignored” or “Discovered” numbers? If you ignore an Active destination, you’re charged for that month’s usage, but the promo numbers are removed from your account going forward. There’s no limit to how many numbers you can ignore, and neither Ignored nor Discovered numbers count against your overall number usage. If a number is ignored by accident, simply promote it back to Active to resume tracking. Do I have to manually delete numbers if they’re removed from my website? Invoca’s auto-scaling technology gradually reduces the numbers dedicated to a destination over time. You can ignore the destination to remove them more quickly. Do I need Auto Create enabled in the Invoca Tag settings? Destinations always takes precedence over the Tag’s auto-create settings. You can remove auto-create from the Tag UI by creating a new Tag revision, unselecting the auto-create checkboxes, and going live. Does Destinations support international number replacement? Only UK numbers are supported, and they require a separate campaign for proper setup. Reach out to your account team or support@invoca.com if you’d like to manage UK numbers in Destinations.
