Define and upload a custom target region using zip codes, area codes, or area code and prefix combinations, instead of relying only on the default city, state, or country options.
When creating an Invoca campaign, you can set it to only handle calls from a specified region, which Invoca identifies by the caller’s area code and phone number prefix (NPA/NXX). By default, you can target by city, state or province, time zone, or country — but you can also define and upload a custom region.

Creating a custom target region

  1. Reach out to your account team or support@invoca.com for the Custom Target Region Template spreadsheet.
  2. Choose whether to define your region by Zip Code, Area Code, or Area Code + Prefix (NPA/NXX). You can’t mix data types within one region.
  3. Add each region marker as a separate row in your spreadsheet, then save it as a .csv, .xls, or .xlsx file using the naming convention [Desired_Name_of_Region]_[Date] — for example, SoCal_04051.
  4. Log in to your Invoca account. In the sidebar menu, click Settings, then select Custom Region Uploads.
  5. In the Region Name field, enter a unique, memorable name for your new region.
  6. In the Region File section, click Choose File and select your spreadsheet. A few tips to help it upload successfully:
    • No hidden columns or rows.
    • No additional columns beyond the “Zip” column.
    • Format the column as “Text” or “Plain Text” so leading zeros in zip codes stay intact.
  7. To replace the current target regions on any campaign you’ve already created, check Replace Current Regions in the Region Replacement section.
  8. Enter the URL of each campaign you want to apply the custom region to, then click Upload.
You’ll receive an email confirmation once processing is complete — review your campaign and set the changes live from there.

Additional information

Whether you supply NPA/NPA-NXX combinations or zip codes, Invoca displays City/State for your custom regions in the platform:
  • When zip codes are provided, Invoca derives the Area Code/Central Office Code (NPA-NXX) combinations covered by those zip codes (for example, 805-565), and displays the associated City/State.
  • When area codes are provided, any NPA-NXX combination within those area codes is used to derive a City/State, shown in your custom region.
Make sure to remove any other regions from the campaign to actually restrict callers to your target region. For example, if “All US” is still set as a region alongside your custom region, the campaign continues to treat and pay out callers as “In Region” regardless of your custom target region.
