Signal Discovery uses machine learning to find common themes in your calls automatically, so you can turn them into new Signals without listening to hundreds of recordings.
Signal Discovery is a conversational analytics tool that analyzes your calls for you. This Signal AI feature uses machine learning to identify common themes and topics in your conversations, then makes it easy to create new Signal AI signals from them. Signal Discovery is useful for marketers who want the customized insights of Signal AI, but aren’t sure where to start or what to look for. With this feature, you can learn what your customers are talking about without listening to hundreds of calls. Armed with these insights, you can improve media optimization efforts, better understand your customers, and classify calls efficiently.

Getting started with Signal Discovery

If your Invoca account doesn’t have Signal Discovery enabled, contact your Invoca Account Manager, who can help determine whether your account is a good candidate for this feature and which package fits your organization’s needs. To ensure Signal Discovery has a representative sample of conversations to analyze, you’ll need at least 5,000 qualified call recordings in your account (those that include transcripts). For more accurate results, we recommend a sample of at least 20,000 recordings. Once enabled, Invoca’s algorithm analyzes all the call recordings in your account, understands them, and splits them into topics. Once complete, you’ll be notified and ready to move to the next step.

How to view and interpret Signal Discovery conversation topics

To access Signal Discovery, log in to your Invoca account. In the sidebar menu, click Signal, then select Signal Discovery. You’ll see an assortment of bubbles of different colors and sizes. Each bubble represents a different conversation topic, and its size indicates how many calls that topic includes. Once you create a new Signal from any topic, a checkmark appears inside that bubble. After some configuration, you might also see diagonal-shaded bubbles, indicating topics that conform to a script used by your call center agents, if applicable. Hover over any bubble group in the topic view to see more details, including the keywords Invoca used to differentiate that group from your other calls. Click any bubble to zoom in on that topic. The word cloud inside each zoomed-in bubble shows words spoken by each party in your conversations. For example, keywords might show that a group of calls involves customers leaving a voicemail. In the Insights tab, you can see how frequently a topic occurs, the average length of these calls, and category-type Marketing Data fields commonly captured in them. Click the Call Samples tab to listen to a recording from any call in that topic, or the Notes tab to add your own thoughts. Spend time exploring this view — click through the bubbles, review the keywords Signal Discovery identified as distinct topics, and listen to sample recordings if a topic isn’t clear, to build a fuller picture of your conversations and your business.
