Invoca identifies repeat callers by Caller ID and lets you customize their call treatment, payout eligibility, and reporting.
Invoca identifies phone numbers calling your campaigns by Caller ID. If the same number calls more than once, that call is flagged as a repeat call and can be treated differently depending on what a repeat call means for your business.
For example, if you use Invoca for performance marketing, you might remove payout commissions for repeat calls, since they may represent service or support rather than a new sale. In other industries, a repeat caller might represent a lead further along your sales funnel — in that case, you can customize their call treatment to prioritize them instead.
Call treatments for repeat callers
With a recent Invoca Tag, Invoca identifies callers through their browser session using a unique Invoca ID, connecting a caller’s browser session with their promo number. When a repeat call comes from a known caller phone number, Invoca checks that Invoca ID to make sure they receive the same call treatment as their last call.
For performance marketing campaigns, you can add further controls for repeat callers in your call treatment:
- Log in to your Invoca account, click Campaigns, then select Manage Campaigns. Select the campaign you want to customize.
- Build a call treatment and add a “Check a Condition” node — we recommend placing it near the top of the tree, before callers are otherwise routed to a call center.
- In the “If” section, click Add condition, select Is repeat, then click Done.
- In the “Then” dropdown, choose the call treatment node to use for repeat callers.
- In the “Else” section, choose what happens to callers who haven’t called before.
- Click Done to save.
Invoca uses the same repeat call window defined in your campaign’s Payouts settings (30 days by default) — see “Defining your repeat call window” below to customize it.
In performance marketing, you typically want to avoid paying commissions for repeat callers, since they usually don’t represent a new sale opportunity.
- Log in to your Invoca account, click Campaigns, then select Manage Campaigns.
- Click the campaign with the repeat call window you want to edit.
- Scroll to the Payout section and click Edit.
Defining your repeat call window
In the Repeat Callers section, choose from the available options — a specific number of days, the same calendar day/week/month, or paying out all calls regardless of repeat status.
Adding special conditions for repeat caller payouts
- From the same Payout section, click Add Payout Condition.
- Click Add Condition, select Is Repeat, and continue building your payout and bonus conditions. Click Done.
Customizing repeat caller policies by Publisher
By default, repeat call payout options are set at the campaign level, but for campaigns with more than one active Publisher, you can customize this per Publisher:
- Log in to your Invoca account. If you’re on a Network account, use the account switcher to select the Advertiser hosting the campaign.
- Click Campaigns, then select Manage Publisher Campaigns.
- In the FILTER BY dropdown, select the campaign, then find the Publisher you want to customize.
- In the Actions column, click the menu button, select Customize, then set the repeat caller window and payout options.
Repeat calls and bundled campaigns
Bundled campaigns route calls from one parent campaign into several destination campaigns, so a destination campaign can receive a repeat call routed through its bundled parent.
When building a call treatment for a bundled campaign, select “Ensure Repeat Calls Go to Original Destination” to route repeat callers back to their originally called destination — regardless of that destination’s operating hours, target region, or pause date.
Bundled campaigns also introduce commission margins and fixed price payouts. For bundled campaigns with fixed price payouts, a call is considered a repeat at the bundle level, not the destination campaign level — so a caller who would otherwise meet a destination campaign’s payout condition isn’t paid if they’re a repeat caller to the bundle.
Repeat calls in your Invoca reports
- Log in to your Invoca account, click Reports, then select Transactions.
- Click Edit Columns. In the Invoca Data: Call Details section, check Repeat Caller.
- Click Done.
The Repeat Caller column shows one of the following for each call:
- Yes: the number has called your campaign before, even if the previous call was outside your defined repeat window.
- No: this number has never called before.
- No: Unavailable: the caller ID wasn’t available to Invoca.
- No: Shared: the number is known to be used by many customers with the same caller ID.
Viewing whether a repeat call earned a payout
- Return to your Transactions Details report.
- Click Edit Columns. In the Invoca Data: Payout Details section, check Call Result.
- Click Done.
The Call Result column shows whether a call was designated as Repeat and, therefore, unpaid — unless specific payout conditions apply to repeat callers. It shows “Repeat Partial Payment” when a repeat call receives a partial payout due to a term change, custom payout, or bonus increase. For example, if a base payout was originally 10.00withnorepeatcallerpayout,andlaterchangedto15.00, a qualifying repeat call would show a “Repeat Partial Payment” of $5.00 — the difference between the old and new amounts. If a payout is decreased instead, repeat calls never result in a negative payment.
