WIC is a legacy deployment option for Advertisers sending Publisher-driven traffic to their own landing pages — most accounts should use the Invoca Tag instead.
Most Invoca customers should use the Invoca Tag to serve promo numbers and call tracking on their landing pages. Invoca Web Integration Code (WIC) is a separate deployment option meant for a narrower set of cases. Use WIC only if:
  • You use Invoca for performance marketing as an Advertiser and need to send publisher-driven traffic to your own landing pages, or
  • You use Invoca for performance marketing as a Network working with several Advertisers, and one or more of them send publisher-driven traffic to their own landing pages.
This article is written for Advertisers implementing WIC. If you’re a Publisher, you can use WIC by joining WIC campaigns owned by Advertisers on your network. With WIC, each Advertiser on a network can track their own reporting and payouts from publisher-driven traffic. Once an Advertiser implements WIC on a landing page, Publishers can generate links containing a trackable Invoca phone number that persists from their marketing efforts through to the landing page, via dynamic number replacement.

Step 1: Set up your default landing page URL

  1. Log in to your Invoca account. If you’re on a Network account setting up WIC on behalf of an Advertiser, click Advertisers in the sidebar menu, then select Manage Advertisers.
  2. Select the Advertiser you want to set up with WIC, or create a new Advertiser first.
  3. Click the gear icon in the menu ribbon, then select Company Profile. In the Web URL field, enter the landing page URL you want to drive traffic to.
  4. Click Update.

Step 2: Configure your Web Integration Code settings

  1. In the sidebar menu, click Settings. In the Advertisers section, select Web Integration.
  2. In the “Phone number on your website” field, enter the phone number that should be dynamically replaced with a trackable Invoca number.
  3. Optionally specify a default campaign and RingPool to use for traffic from sources other than Publisher links, and how the promo number should display. These settings are typically only needed for Advertisers driving both affiliate and internal traffic to the same landing page. See the Invoca Developer Portal for WIC Advanced Settings details.
  4. Click Update to save.

Step 3: Add your WIC code to your landing page

From the Web Integration Settings panel, click the Get Code tab to view your auto-generated JavaScript code, which includes your unique Advertiser ID, along with implementation instructions. If a developer on your team will implement the code, send them the full contents of the Get Code tab, along with a link to the Invoca Developer Portal for detailed documentation and samples. If you’re implementing it yourself, copy the code between the “cut here” lines and paste it into your landing page’s source code, just above the closing </body> tag. A generic example (without a real Advertiser ID, so not usable directly) looks like this:

Connecting your Publishers to your campaigns using WIC

The WIC code on an Advertiser’s landing page is what ties a Publisher’s ID to a campaign. Once WIC is live, Publishers can confirm it’s implemented by logging in to Invoca and viewing the Campaign Summary page. When a Publisher pulls a promo number, Invoca generates a unique URL for that campaign, which the Publisher uses in their marketing to drive traffic to the landing page. WIC dynamically replaces the hardcoded number on the site (the “Number to Replace” set up in Step 2) with the Publisher’s unique promo number, allowing you to track which Publisher drove that traffic.

Testing and troubleshooting

If your WIC code isn’t working as expected, the Invoca Developer Portal has step-by-step testing instructions and troubleshooting guidance.
