"You Must Be a Member of the Organization" API Error

This error usually means the network name or number in your API endpoint URL is formatted incorrectly.

Symptoms

The error “You must be a member of the organization” appears when accessing an API endpoint.

The API endpoint formatting is incorrect. For example, this URL produces the error:

https://2008.invoca.net/api/2020-10-01/networks/transactions/33.csv?limit=20&oauth_token=[mytoken]

Here, “2008” needs to be an organization name, “invoca” should be the domain, and “33” should match the organization’s actual network number.

Use this format instead, replacing the bracketed placeholders with your actual values:

https://[insertnetworkname].invoca.net/api/2020-10-01/networks/transactions/[insertnetworknumber].csv?limit=25&oauth_token=[your_oauth_token]
