File types, image dimensions, and text formatting rules for the legacy Campaign Creatives feature, which adds Invoca promo numbers to image and text ads.
This is a legacy feature. Creatives isn’t compatible with the Invoca Tag or with several newer Invoca features, and it isn’t supported for many current use cases. If your account still uses Creatives, contact your account team to discuss other ways to track calls from your ad assets. This article covers the file types, sizes, and formatting to use when uploading Creatives. For steps on creating and adding a creative to a campaign, see the companion article on Campaign Creatives image and SMS placement.

Design and formatting best practices

Design creatives with open space for a phone number on a white or solid-color background. Once uploaded, a creative can be customized with a unique tracking phone number for each of the campaign’s approved publishers. Recommended resolutions, in pixels, for uploaded Banner and Mobile images:
  • Mobile, smart phone: 300 x 250, 320 x 50, 300 x 50, 200 x 200
  • Mobile, feature phone: 120 x 20, 168 x 28, 216 x 36, 160 x 120
  • Online: 160 x 600, 728 x 90, 468 x 60, 120 x 90, 125 x 125

Supported file formats

Invoca accepts JPG, JPEG, GIF, and PNG files for campaign creatives. Animated GIFs can be uploaded, but they can’t be customized with a unique tracking phone number — publishers only have access to the original file.

Text creatives

A text creative is an SMS or search ad that uses a link around clickable text as a click-to-call link to your Invoca promo number. Depending on the channel, text length may be limited: SMS messages have a 160-character limit, including the tracking URL, while search engine marketing tools such as Google Ads and Microsoft Ads apply their own format and character limits, which often exclude the tracking URL. For current limits, see Google’s and Microsoft’s own ad policy pages. Entering plain text in the “Link Text” field makes the entire string clickable. To hyperlink only part of the text, wrap it in a <link> tag, for example <link>call now</link>. You can use multiple <link> tags to create multiple hyperlinks in one ad.

Displaying your promo number

A phone number isn’t required in a text creative, but it’s recommended. You can enter a number directly, or use a <number> placeholder tag so Invoca inserts each publisher’s assigned promo number automatically, formatted as XXX-XXX-XXXX for US numbers or XXXX XXX XXXX for UK numbers. For US numbers, you can specify a custom format by entering a placeholder phone number made up entirely of 9s, separated by the dashes, periods, or parentheses you want in the final format. For example, entering (999) 999-9999 in your creative text displays as (888) 555-1234 once a real promo number is inserted. To hyperlink only the promo number itself, wrap the <number> tag in a <link> tag, for example: Call us at <link>1-<number></link> for your free trial.
