Standard Redaction is now enabled at no additional cost across every Invoca network — here’s what changed, and what to expect.
Invoca automatically enables Standard Redaction across all networks at no additional cost. This upgrade helps protect your customers and your organization by removing sensitive PCI (Payment Card Industry) and PII (Personally Identifiable Information) from new call recordings and transcripts before it can be viewed in the platform, used by AI features, or shared with downstream systems. Below are answers to the most common questions about what’s changing, what to expect, and how redaction affects your workflows.
What are the benefits of having Standard Redaction applied to my conversations?
Standard Redaction automatically removes sensitive personal and payment information from recorded conversations and transcripts. Key benefits include:
- Regulatory readiness: if privacy regulations or industry recommendations change, having redaction enabled lets Invoca quickly update your network to meet evolving standards.
- Stronger privacy posture: sensitive data is removed from recordings and transcripts, reducing risk.
- Customer trust: you can confidently communicate to customers and internal stakeholders that privacy protection is a priority.
Will I be notified when Standard Redaction is enabled?
Primary customer contacts receive an email notification, and all users see an in-platform notification upon login informing them of the change.
Which networks are impacted?
All Invoca networks have Standard Redaction applied. New recordings and transcripts are redacted starting from the enablement date; recordings captured before enablement aren’t retroactively redacted. By default, Invoca retains recordings and transcripts for up to 24 months, though you may request a shorter retention period.
What if my network already has redaction enabled?
Networks that had redaction enabled before the account-wide rollout, or any new Invoca network created after that date, are unaffected — these networks were already enabled as part of the initial Standard Redaction rollout, and no action is needed.
How does this affect networks that were using legacy redaction sensitivity settings?
Invoca has significantly upgraded its redaction engine and the accuracy with which sensitive data is removed. This upgrade made choosing a redaction sensitivity level redundant, and the option was removed from all networks as part of the Standard Redaction rollout.
If I’m not currently recording or transcribing conversations but enable it later, will Standard Redaction turn on automatically?
Yes. Standard Redaction automatically enables when recording or transcription is activated.
Do I need to take any action before the enablement date?
No action is required. Your Invoca team manages the enablement and confirms your network is functioning as expected.
Can my network opt out of Standard Redaction?
No. Standard Redaction applies to all networks and can’t be disabled.
Personally Identifiable Information (PII): Date of Birth, Driver’s License numbers, Social Security numbers, Passport numbers, Passwords.
Payment Card Information (PCI): Credit card numbers, Expiration dates, CVV/CVC codes, Bank account numbers, Routing numbers.
Will redaction affect Signal accuracy or scorecards?
No. Invoca’s Data Science team conducted extensive research across multiple industries and thousands of conversations and found no change in Signal accuracy with redaction enabled. Early-access customers also validated that enabling Standard Redaction didn’t degrade Signal performance.
Are historical recordings or transcripts redacted retroactively?
No. Recordings and transcripts captured before Standard Redaction was enabled aren’t reprocessed.
Will Keyword Spotting or existing Signals change behavior after redaction is enabled?
No. Enabling Standard Redaction doesn’t modify or adjust any existing Signals or Keyword Spotting behavior.
I’m training a Signal AI Studio Signal. Can I still use historical transcripts after redaction is enabled?
Yes. Conversations available for Signal AI Studio training prior to redaction remain available once processing is complete. Training a Signal requires at least 5,000 records, and redaction doesn’t reset that counter — previously eligible conversations remain eligible after redaction is enabled.
Are AI summaries redacted?
The redaction engine evaluates and removes sensitive information before transcripts are processed for summarization, so summaries shouldn’t contain sensitive data and don’t require additional redaction.
Does Invoca use my data to train third-party AI models or enhance other customer networks?
No. All data within a customer network belongs solely to that customer. Invoca doesn’t share data across networks and doesn’t use customer data to train third-party AI models. Data used within Signal AI Studio or other Invoca AI products is used exclusively to power that individual customer’s features and outputs.
What languages are supported?
Standard Redaction currently supports English, French, and Spanish.
