Import call recordings and success-event outcomes from an external system to train Signal AI, using a link-based spreadsheet upload.
Signal AI automatically recognizes insights in your calls to report success events — such as when a purchase is made — in real time. To train it, you must provide sample recordings of already-completed calls, along with records of whether your signal events did or didn’t occur in each one. Your Invoca account may automatically record calls driven to you using Invoca promo numbers. If available, we recommend using those recordings to train the accuracy of your Signal AI. You can also upload recordings from a third-party system, such as your call center. You might want to import recordings if:
  • You’re a new Invoca customer without many recorded calls.
  • You’re switching to Invoca from another call intelligence service.
  • You prefer to keep your call recordings stored in your call center or other system.
  • You already keep records indicating in which calls your success events occurred.
In these situations, follow these steps to upload a spreadsheet with links to your call recordings and records of your success events.

Section 1: Preparing your call recordings

  1. Gather and prepare your call recordings so Signal AI can access and learn from them. Each recording must be accessible via hyperlink — most often hosted through a third-party call recording system, your organization’s web server, or an Amazon S3 bucket.
  2. Confirm the recordings will be accessible to your Invoca account. If hosted by a third-party call center or call intelligence system, make sure the recordings are unsigned. If stored in your cloud storage or web server, confirm the files have open permissions for your Invoca account.
  3. Indicate whether each success event did or didn’t happen on each call. You may need to listen to calls individually, contract with a third-party call scoring service, or import records from your CRM or another system.

Section 2: Uploading your call recordings and success events

  1. Log in to your Invoca account. In the sidebar menu, click Signal.
  2. Find the “Upload Signal AI Training Data” tile in the Signal menu and click Upload.
  3. Click Download Template, and select “I have links to non-Invoca call recordings” to download a template spreadsheet (.xlsx).
  4. Open the template. In the recording_url column, enter the hyperlinks to each recording identified in Section 1, step 1.
  5. For each signal you’d like Signal AI to track, enter the exact name of that signal in a new column. For your first import, these signal names can’t match the name of any Signal that already exists in your account.
  6. In each signal column, enter the outcome for the corresponding call recording — “true,” “yes,” or “1” for signals that occurred, and “false,” “no,” or “0” for signals that didn’t. Save your spreadsheet.
  7. Return to your Invoca browser window. Click the upload button in the Upload New File tile, select your saved spreadsheet, then click Upload and Preview.
Once uploaded, if there are no errors, you’ll see a status bar showing upload progress. If errors are found, use the previewer to review and fix them, then proceed with processing. Upon successful completion, your Signals are created and trained — drill into each AI Signal to view its accuracy rate. Accuracy improves the more calls you include, so keep scoring more recordings for the best real-time insights.
