Tables display a Dashboard Tile in a format similar to a spreadsheet, with support for rearranging, resizing, sorting, and formatting columns.
Tables display your Dashboard Tile in a format similar to an Excel spreadsheet. In table view, your search identifies attributes and/or columns and presents them as a table, aggregated based on the level of aggregation you specify. For example, searching only revenue shows the total sum of revenue as a single number; adding the keyword monthly breaks the results down by month. From the column header, you can rename, sort, or filter a column. Rearrange column order by dragging and dropping columns, either from the table itself or from the Edit table: Configure menu, and change column widths.

Rearrange column order

  1. While viewing your Dashboard Tile as a table, click the column header you want to move.
  2. Drag it to its new position.
You can also rearrange columns from the Edit table: Configure menu, by clicking the edit table configuration icon and dragging attributes or Measures — the order there reflects the table’s column order.

Resize column widths

Hover over a column border in the header row, then click and drag to your preferred width. Adjustments save when you pin the table to a Dashboard.

Clip or wrap text

Clip or wrap long text in a table cell or header, for the entire table or column by column. Clipped text shows only the beginning, with the rest visible if you widen the column; wrapped text shows all the text by increasing the number of lines. To clip or wrap the entire table, click the edit table configuration icon, select Settings, and under text wrapping choose wrap or clip. To do it for one column, hover over the column name, click the more options menu icon, select text wrapping, and choose wrap or clip.

Number formatting

Format the numbers in any table column based on a Measure, changing the category (number, percentage, or currency), units (auto, none, thousand, million, billion, or trillion), or method of writing negative values (-1234, 1234-, or (1234)).
  1. Click the edit table configuration icon. The Edit table panel appears on the Configure menu.
  2. Select the Measure to format (or use the more icon that appears when hovering over a column name).
  3. Under number formatting, edit the category, units, or negative-value method from the dropdown menus.
  4. Specify a category: number, percentage, or currency (choosing currency lets you pick a currency type). If you don’t pick one, Invoca automatically picks the best category for your data.
  5. Specify units: none for two decimal points, or millions for labels rounded to the millions, for example. If unspecified, Invoca picks the best units automatically. Depending on the unit, you can also set decimal places and the thousand separator.
  6. Specify the negative values format: -1234, 1234-, or (1234). The default is -1234.

Sort columns

Click a column title to sort by it. Hold Shift and click another column title to add a secondary sort — you can add tertiary sorting the same way. This is especially useful for date columns. You can also sort from the search bar, by adding sort by date quarterly or sort by date weekly.
TipThis same functionality is available on tables elsewhere in Invoca — for example, a table on the Data page is also sortable this way.
Tables automatically have a footer showing the number of rows. Enable or disable it from the Settings menu: click edit table configuration, select Settings, then toggle table footer.

Column summaries

For columns with numeric information, turn on column summaries to display column totals: click edit table configuration, select Settings, then toggle column summary. Column summaries aren’t available for tables with more than 1,000 rows.

About headlines (summary information)

Headlines display summary information for each column of a table, appearing at the bottom of the table in individual boxes. Invoca automatically creates up to 20 headlines per table (your configuration can be changed to allow more). Headlines aren’t available for tables with more than 15,000 rows, unless the data comes from an Embrace connection. Click the dropdown on a headline to change its aggregation type — usually total, average, standard deviation, variance, minimum, or maximum, plus unique count and total count for applicable columns. To pin a headline to a Dashboard, hover over it and click the Pin icon. To customize which headlines display, click the More menu icon and select Customize Summaries.

Table aggregate headline

The Table Aggregate headline option is available when an aggregate function is used, either through a formula or a search bar query like an average of a Measure — it recalculates the function for the entire table. In these cases, Table Aggregate is shown by default in a headline under the table, instead of “Avg,” which would apply a second level of aggregation on top of the existing one.
