# Signal Tracking: IVR Keypresses

> Track which touch-tone option a caller chooses in an IVR menu as a Signal, the same way you track other call insights.

If a call treatment prompts touch-tone keypresses through a menu, track which option callers choose as a valuable intent indicator, the same way you track other insights — using Signals. Creating a Keypress Signal works a bit differently than other Signal types.

## Step 1: Build or identify the IVR keypress to track

Follow the "Call Treatments & IVR" guide to build a call treatment that includes at least one "Ask a question" or "Ask a series of questions" node — these create IVR (interactive voice response) keypress menus. Choose which keypress option to track. For example, if the menu says "Press 1 for sales; press 2 for support," choose 1 to track sales. Repeat for multiple keypresses if you have Signals available.

## Step 2: Name and save the Signal

1. Check the "Name this keypress" checkbox.
2. Enter a distinct name for the insight.
3. Click **Done**.

Invoca creates a new keypress Signal with that name and applies it to this keypress. You can now view calls including the Signal in reports, send it through integrations, or use it in complex rule-based Signals.

## FAQ

**Can I reuse the same Signal for different keypresses elsewhere?** Yes — once named, use the same Signal for other keypresses representing the same outcome, whether that's another node in the same call treatment or a different one. Find the keypress, click "Name this keypress," and instead of entering a new name, use the "Please select a keypress Signal" dropdown to pick the existing one. Any caller selecting any keypress with that name gets tagged with the Signal, regardless of which treatment or node it came from.
