# Setting Up Smart Alerts

> Create a Smart Alert by choosing a signal to monitor, a threshold that triggers it, and who gets notified — then manage, pause, or delete it any time from the alerts table.

## Prerequisites

You need access to your Invoca account's Settings area to create or manage Smart Alerts. For background on what Smart Alerts do and how to choose a good signal to alert on, see Invoca's Smart Alerts overview documentation.

## Create a Smart Alert

Setting up a Smart Alert takes just a few steps: name the alert, choose what triggers it, and decide who should be notified.

1. **Navigate to Smart Alerts.** Go to **Settings > Account > Smart Alerts**, or go to the Notifications Center.
2. **Click Add Alert.** Click **Add Alert** to open the alert configuration page.
3. **Configure the alert fields.** The alert configuration page includes the following fields:
   * **Name** — Alphanumeric characters only, up to 100 characters, and must be unique.
   * **Signal** — Select which Invoca signal to monitor, and whether you want alerts when the signal occurs or doesn't occur on calls. A signal is a rule in your Invoca account that detects when something specific happens on a call, such as a caller booking an appointment or mentioning a competitor.
   * **Threshold** — Set a count (for example, 3 calls) or a percentage (for example, 50% of calls) to trigger the alert. A lower threshold catches issues sooner but can lead to more frequent alerts; a higher threshold filters out noise but may delay notification.
   * **Time Window (Lookback)** — Set the historical window the alert evaluates (for example, 15 minutes). Keep this window short while you're testing, then widen it once you've confirmed the alert behaves as expected.
   * **Start/End Time** — Set the hours of day the alert is active, with time zone support. When you're testing, confirm the current time falls within this window.
   * **Recipients** — Enter the email addresses that should receive each alert. Recipients without an Invoca login can still receive the alert email, but they won't be able to log in to review the flagged calls directly.
   * **Marketing Data Filters (optional)** — Filter the alert by campaign, agent, location, or another field from your account's Marketing Data — the campaign- and source-tracking information Invoca captures alongside each call.
4. **Click Save.** Click **Save** to add the alert to the alerts table in alphabetical order. Invoca activates it by default and shows a confirmation toast.
5. **Wait for the alert to fire.** After the lookback window passes and the alert's threshold is met, Invoca sends an email to the alert's recipients with a link to view the flagged calls.

For example, you might set up separate alerts for separate teams — one that notifies a sales manager whenever bookings drop below a set percentage, and another that notifies a support lead whenever a specific complaint signal spikes — each with its own threshold, time window, and recipient list.

## Pause, Activate, or Delete an Alert

From the alerts table, click an alert's name to edit it. To pause, activate, or delete an alert, click **Actions** next to that alert and select **Pause**, **Activate**, or **Delete**. You can change an alert's status at any time.
