# Sankey Charts

> The Sankey chart illustrates a flow through a process or system, such as a sales conversion path.

The Sankey chart type contains both columns and a special type of line chart. Sankey diagrams illustrate a flow through a process or a system — transactional data, such as financial transactions moving through accounts or a product being processed, works well. Many marketing users know Sankey charts from analyzing sales conversions.

When you build a Sankey chart, you must provide at least two attributes and one Measure. Your x-axis attributes can contain at most 13 values — more than that, and you can't view a Sankey chart. Invoca Sankey charts read left to right: the width of the flow represents the Measure, and the attributes, or "steps," appear as solid bars.

## Limitations

Sankey charts do **not** support conditional formatting.
