# Pausing Signals

> Pause a Signal to stop it from evaluating new calls — without affecting its historical data — then unpause it anytime.

Although your Signals are important to your business, you might not always want to evaluate them on your calls — especially Signals that carry a processing cost. That's why it's easy to pause and unpause your Signals whenever you want.

Signals that use Signal AI or Spoken Phrase features typically bill your Invoca account to cover the cost of transcribing and processing your calls. You may want to pause and unpause Signals to save costs when you don't need them, though you can also pause any Signal at any time for any reason.

## Pausing a Signal

To pause or unpause a Signal, you must have already created it using Signal Builder. Then:

1. Log in to your Invoca account. In the sidebar menu, click **Signal**, then select **Manage Signals**.
2. Find the Signal you'd like to pause. In the Actions column, click the ellipsis, then select **Pause Signal**.
3. Reactivate any paused Signal from the same menu by selecting **Activate Signal**.

## What happens when I pause my Signals?

When a Signal is paused:

* It's no longer evaluated on new inbound calls to your business.
* Any webhooks using paused Signals in their firing rules won't fire.
* Any "Check a Condition" IVR nodes that reference paused Signals won't receive a true evaluation for that Signal.
* Users can't report paused Signals via API, file upload, or user gesture (Calls Report).
