# Why Is There No Location Information for UK Mobile Numbers?

> Unlike US mobile numbers, UK mobile numbers don't carry area codes tied to a geographic region.

UK mobile phones don't have location data tied to them the way stationary UK landlines do. US mobile numbers retain an area code tied to a region, but UK mobile numbers have no area code linking them to a specific geography — which is why call detail records show no location information for these numbers.
