# Manual Data Import

> Send call data you've captured in a third-party or proprietary system into Invoca's Marketing Data fields using file upload.

If you use Invoca Marketing Data fields but sometimes capture that data through a system that isn't integrated with Invoca, you can still bring it in using Marketing Data File Upload.

## Step 1: Gather your source data

Export your call data from the third-party system into a CSV or spreadsheet file, making sure you're only including calls that Invoca actually drove. You can upload either new call records containing Marketing Data, or corrections to previously tracked calls.

## Step 2: Format and upload your data

1. In the sidebar, click **Signal**.
2. In the Upload Signal Records tile, click **Upload**.
3. Click **Download Template**, select "No, I am only uploading Signals and/or Marketing Data," and download the formatted spreadsheet.
4. In the template, use one of the three identifier columns to match each record to a call in Invoca: `transaction_id`, `call_record_id`, or `call_start_time`. You only need to fill in one — if you fill in more than one, Invoca matches in that priority order. If using only `call_start_time`, we recommend also including `calling_phone_number` or `duration_in_seconds` for a more precise match.
5. Scroll to the blank columns and enter the exact Partner (API) Name of each Marketing Data field you're reporting on.
6. Fill in your call data — one row per call, with the identifier columns from step 4 and a value in each Marketing Data column from step 5.
7. Save the file as `.xlsx` or `.csv`.
8. Back in Invoca, in the Upload New File menu, click the cloud icon and select your file.
9. Select your time zone, then click **Upload and Preview**.
10. Review for errors. If none, click **Proceed** to apply the records to your account.

Once processed, view the results in the upload history table.

## Troubleshooting upload errors

If your file has formatting errors, you'll see a downloadable error report identifying which rows failed and why. Common causes are data that doesn't match a format Invoca can read — see the additional formatting tips for Signal File Upload spreadsheets for guidance. Contact Invoca Customer Success if you need further help.
