# How can I keep Invoca from running on a page without pausing the tag?

> Two ways to prevent the Invoca tag from running on a page during testing, without pausing the tag in your account settings.

## Prerequisites

* Access to the webpage where the Invoca tag is deployed
* A browser with developer tools, such as Chrome DevTools

## Option 1: Add a query parameter to the URL

Add the query parameter `invoca_hold=true` to the page URL (for example, `yoursite.com?invoca_hold=true`). The Invoca tag still loads, but it aborts execution before it runs. You can confirm this by checking the browser console in developer tools, where the hold is logged.

Use an incognito or private browsing window when testing this method, to avoid caching issues from a previous page load affecting your results.

Keep in mind that if a function such as `Invoca.PNAPI.run()` is manually invoked elsewhere on the page, you may still see the promo number swap even with the hold parameter in place. For a complete test of your page's behavior without any Invoca activity, use the network blocking method below instead.

## Option 2: Block the Invoca tag from loading

You can prevent the Invoca tag script from loading on your website entirely by using your browser's network request blocking feature. This gives you a thorough way to evaluate your website's behavior with no Invoca tag activity at all.

1. Open the webpage where the Invoca tag is deployed.
2. Right-click the page and select **Inspect** to open developer tools.
3. Click the **Network** tab.
4. Type "invoca" in the filter field to find network requests related to Invoca.
5. Right-click the file `invoca-latest.min.js` and select **Block request domain**.
6. Confirm the checkbox labeled **Enable network request blocking** is checked, and that `solutions.invocacdn.com` has been added to the blocked list.
7. Refresh the page. It now loads with the Invoca tag script blocked.
8. To allow the tag to run again, uncheck **Enable network request blocking** and refresh the page once more.

This method is useful when you want to preview how your page behaves before the Invoca tag activates and swaps in a promo number, without needing to pause the tag in your Invoca account.
