# How to Find Your SHA-1 or SHA-256 Fingerprint for Your SSO Settings

> Format your identity provider's X.509 certificate and run it through a fingerprint calculator to get the value your Invoca SSO settings need.

**Applies to:** Customers setting up a new SSO integration, customers already integrated with SSO whose identity provider has an expiring X.509 certificate

## Objective

Determine the correct value for the SHA-1/SHA-256 Fingerprint field in your Invoca SSO settings.

## Steps

1. Locate your X.509 certificate in your SSO identity provider's settings — the exact location depends on which provider you use.
2. Copy the full X.509 certificate and paste it into a [certificate formatter tool](https://www.samltool.com/format_x509cert.php) to add the proper header.
3. Copy the formatted certificate and paste it into a [fingerprint calculator tool](https://www.samltool.com/fingerprint.php).
4. Select **sha1** or **sha256** from the algorithm menu and click **Calculate Fingerprint**.
5. Copy the resulting fingerprint and paste it into your Invoca SSO settings.
