# Drill Down Into Your Data

> Drill down into a Dashboard Tile to get a finer-grained view of a datapoint and the data behind it, with no limit to how deep you can go.

When you drill down, you can see more information about the data within your search. For example, in a *revenue by department* search, you might notice your *clothing* department has the highest revenue — you can drill down on *clothing* by *product name* to find out which products contribute to those high sales. There's no limit to how deep you can drill down.

You can drill down in both tables and chart visualizations, on standalone Dashboard Tiles and on Dashboard Tiles within Dashboards. When drilling down on a Dashboard Tile within a Dashboard, you can either drill down directly, or use the Dashboard Tile Explorer view, which provides a flexible, AI-guided exploration of a Dashboard Tile within a Dashboard.

## Drill down on a Dashboard Tile

1. Right-click the chart object (such as a column on a bar chart, or a section of a pie chart) or data point of interest in your Dashboard Tile.
2. Select **Drill down**. This limits the data you're exploring to that particular data point or chart object.
3. A list of dimensions appears — you can only drill down on dimensions, not Measures. Click any option to gain deeper insight into your data. Use your browser's back button to go back one step at a time.

  Your browser's back button only goes back one step on unsaved Dashboard Tiles. On a saved Dashboard Tile, clicking back prompts you to save unsaved changes, and doesn't take you back to the previous drill-down step.

## Drill down within a Dashboard

Drilling down on a Dashboard Tile within a Dashboard works similarly to drilling down on the tile itself. You can't go back one step at a time, but you can reset the tile when you're finished by clicking the blue reset icon at its bottom-right corner.

## Drill down with Dashboard Tile Explorer

Dashboard Tile Explorer provides AI-guided exploration of a Dashboard Tile within a Dashboard, including a *go back one step* feature using the back arrow icon. Click the reset icon to return to the original Dashboard Tile. To go back one step at a time while drilling down, add your Dashboard Tile to a Dashboard so you can use Dashboard Tile Explorer.

## Save and share your new Dashboard Tile

When you find a valuable insight using drill down, save that Dashboard Tile instead of recreating it in the **Search** bar later:

1. Click the **More** menu icon.
2. Select **copy and edit**.
3. **Save** your new Dashboard Tile and continue working with it.
4. Alternatively, select **Download** to download an image of your current visualization.

You can also share the Dashboard Tile using the sharing icon — otherwise, it returns to its original state when you exit the page.

## Share your data

If you own a Dashboard or Dashboard Tile, you can drill down to the data beneath it. Users you share it with can also drill down, provided they *also* have access to the underlying data. If you don't have access to a Dashboard or Dashboard Tile's underlying data source, you can't drill down.
