# DNO Database Removal

> If you make outbound calls from an Invoca number, request removal from the Do Not Originate database so recipients can call it back.

## Background

Do Not Originate (DNO) is a service created and controlled by Somos, the toll-free numbering authority, and adopted by many US telecommunications providers. DNO helps stop fraudsters from spoofing legitimate caller IDs on illegitimate traffic: numbers that shouldn't originate calls are added to the DNO database, and carriers that check it will end a call in progress if the caller ID matches an entry in DNO — protecting both the recipient from a spam/fraud call and the real owner of that number from getting blamed for calls they didn't make.

## Why you might need your promo number removed

If you're making outbound lead calls (or other outbound calls) and want recipients to be able to call back a number you're tracking through Invoca, you'll need your promo number removed from the DNO database.

## Requesting removal

1. Open a support case with Invoca describing the Invoca number(s) you want removed from DNO and your use case. Include:
   * The point of contact at your company responsible for this number's outbound dialing.
   * The name of the provider you use to make outbound calls with an Invoca Caller ID.
2. Support reviews the request internally and follows up if more information is needed.
3. Once complete, the numbers are removed from DNO and you'll receive confirmation through the case.

The SLA for DNO removal is 5 business days.
