# AI Voice Agent Actions

> Learn what each action does, how to open and configure an action, and when to end a call or record a callback.

**Learn what each action does, how to open and configure an action, and when to end a call or record a callback.**

> **Note:** The AI Voice Agent is part of Invoca's AI Agents and may need to be enabled on your account. If you don't see **Agent Studio** in the left menu, contact your account team.

## Before you begin

You need an agent with at least one intent in its Voice workflow. Have the phone numbers of the teams you'll transfer callers to ready. The info fields and Signals you can choose come from your profile, so check that the ones you need are there.

## How actions work

Each segment in the Voice workflow has one action. To open it, go to the **Definition** tab, switch to **Table view**, and select the action next to the segment. Every Action panel has:

* **Action:** a dropdown with the six actions. Changing it replaces the instruction fields with the ones for the new action.
* **Description:** a read-only summary of what the action does.
* **Instructions:** what the agent should say and do in this segment. The label depends on the action.
* **Signal (optional):** the Signal that fires when the action completes.
* **What To Collect (optional):** the info fields the agent asks for and saves.

Select **Apply** to save your changes to the draft, or **Cancel** to discard them. **Undo**, at the top of the workflow, reverses recent edits. Callers only get your changes after you select **Go Live**.

## The six actions

| Action | What happens | What you configure |
| :- | :- | :- |
| Qualify | Asks one question and sorts the caller into a segment. It doesn't transfer or end the call. | The question, the Answers/Segments, and what to do if the agent can't determine the answer. |
| Inform | Gives the caller information, with no transfer. | How should the agent inform users? |
| Inform & Route | Answers the caller's question and transfers them to the right queue when routing is needed. | How should the agent inform and route callers? and the phone number to transfer callers to. |
| Request Callback | Collects the caller's number, preferred window, and reason, and saves them to the call record. The agent doesn't place the call; a person or your outbound team follows up. | How should the agent handle callback requests? for any guidance beyond the standard behavior. |
| Support & Escalate | Tries to resolve the caller's issue using your knowledge sources. If it can't, it transfers to the number you set. | How should the agent handle escalation requests? and the phone number for unresolved callers. |
| End Call | Speaks a closing line, then hangs up. Use it when the caller's need is fully met and there's no further step. | Closing line (optional). |

Every action also has the optional Signal and What To Collect settings.

## End the call or record a callback

* Use **End Call** when the caller's need is met and there's no further step. Keep the closing line short, warm, and specific to the branch.
* Use **Request Callback** when the caller prefers a call back or no one can take the call. Don't promise a callback time unless a team has committed to it.
